Highways Update September 2026

Good evening, ladies and Gentlemen

I’d like to take a moment to thank the men and women of the Highway dept. for their continued hard work and dedication.

Just wanted to remind those that haven’t done so yet sign up for the emergency alerts it is the best way to stay on top of road closures and other emergencies. 

Our Basins repair crew has repairing basins they will be out daily as we have several in need of repair. They repaired 113 YTD

Vac-ALL crew has been out cleaning basins in Lake Peekskill they have cleaned roughly 835 basins so far. 

We replaced 150 feet 24 ft of metal drainage pipe with plastic pipe on Shamrock Dr which was an outlet pipe that was causing drainage and many other issues for a home.

We installed a rock wall along a drainage ditch on shoulder of Canopus Hollow Rd to not only stop erosion but to hold stabilize the road 

We repaired a major drainage issue and storm issue on Tinker hill and Peekskill hollow.

Hopefully in the next few weeks will be able to start getting some of the heavy debris spots in some of the water ways cleaned out.

Unfortunately, we had to close Sunken Mine Road going through the state park at this time I can’t see spending days fixing the road and taking away from other more important work.

Our tree crew has been out recently taking down a few dead and hazardous trees

 The phones at highway are monitored 24 / 7 and I ask residents with issues to call us and not post on Facebook as we don’t troll for complaints.
